I had been wanting to visit Dongdaemun Design Plaza for a while after seeing pictures of the LED flowers at night. This weekend, I got the chance to go and it did not disappoint. This structure looks like something out of a sci-fi film, and features exhibits from artists from all over the world.
Inside there are several parts of the DDP, my favorite being the Design Lab. This is where new and upcoming artists can sell their wares. I bought a beautiful water-color world map, a bracelet, and some handmade Christmas cards.
Outside the plaza, it is fun to walk around and see all the different structures and buildings. There are massive revolving orbs and lots of interesting things to take pictures with. The most memorable objects here were the LED flowers, which light up at night but are beautiful during the daytime as well.
After I finished shopping, I went to one of favorite restaurants in Seoul, Everest. There are two Everest locations, and this one is located inside the shopping center by Woori Bank. They have some of the best Indian food in Seoul (in my opinion!) and also have a very vegetarian-friendly menu.
By the time I headed home, the sky was getting dark and the city lights were popping up everywhere. Seoul never fails to impress.
How To Get There: Take line 2, 4, or 6 to Dongdaemun History and Culture Park Station (Exit 1).
