Documentary Arts Asia- A Hidden Gem in Chiang Mai, Thailand

Documentary Arts Asia was established in order to increase the number of Asian documentary artists and to give underrepresented groups a voice.  This gallery is situated just south of Old City on a small soi down Wualai Rd, about a 15 minutes walk from Chiang Mai Gate. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and it’s a great place to meet new people and learn something new. After visiting, I always feel more inspired and more like a global citizen.

I was first brought here by my very worldly friend Sabrina. She inspired me to come more often to see documentaries and art exhibits. They have regular film screenings if you check their website. As an added bonus, If you are a member, you can check out movies and books from the back.

I feel that this is one of the best places to meet people and connect in Chiang Mai as it inspires connections beyond something a cafe or a bar would. It’s a great place to just hang out and chat about interesting things over a drink. The people who come here and the volunteers are all interested in making the world a better place and learning about different  cultures. Next time you are in Chiang Mai make sure to stop by.

  1. Hey this place sounds cool. Going to pop it on to my Pinterest for myself to look back on when I’m in Chiang Mai! Your blog seems quite interesting too 🙂 Thanks.
